Panagin Pharmaceuticals Inc.(“Panagin”) (www.panagin.com), a subsidiary of Pegasus Pharmaceuticals Group Inc. (“Pegasus”), focuses on research and development of novel botanical small-molecule compounds, clinical trials and regulatory process with the U.S. FDA, CTA of Canada and EMEA of Europe towards novel drug approvals. Being a world leader in the research of Dammarane Sapogenins and its pharmacological activities especially its multi-mechanisms against multi-drug resistant tumors, Panagin has provided vital supports to Pegasus in the development of Careseng® product series containing these active ingredients. In April 2003, National Research Council Canada (NRC) had evaluated Panagin’s research results of the anti-cancer mechanisms of Dammarane Sapogenins, and approved this research as a key national research project with long-term funding. Later in November 2003, after three rounds of evaluation of the pre-clinical and clinical studies of dammarane Sapogenins, the federal government of Canada ranked this project as a key national research project and granted long-term funding.
Based on two of its world-class proprietary technology platforms - the “Selective Metabolites Compound Drug (SMCD)” and “Oral Bioavailability Enhancement Technology (OBET)”, Panagin successfully developed the PandiMex solution and oral capsules containing active ingredients Dammarane Sapogenins. Dammarane Sapogenins, being botanical and non-toxic, have shown very strong cytotoxic anti-cancer properties and induce apoptosis of tumor cells. More significantly, Dammarane Sapogenins have also manifested to reverse multi-drug resistance. This compound not only works synergistically with and enhances the efficacy of chemotherapy drugs, but also protects the organs and tissues and reduces the toxicity of chemotherapy drugs. Enhancing efficacy and reducing toxicity of chemotherapeutic drugs are two major advantages of PandiMex.
In the clinical trials conducted at the National Cancer Center of Republic of Georgia, PandiMex has shown to inhibit bone marrow suppression as well as increase the count of white blood cells in cancer patients after chemotherapy. PandiMex was reported to be better than other current synthetic drugs. In November 2008, HemoMex I (PandiMex®) and HemoMex S (Careseng® SG2) were approved as oncology prescription drugs by the Ministry of Health, Republic of Georgia. Lipo-Aid (Careseng® MK) and Cardio Guard (Bioseng® #1) were approved as OTC non-prescription drugs for cardio-vascular conditions. Panagin is working towards obtaining novel drug approvals from the U.S. FDA and EMEA of Europe. Concurrently with novel drug applications, Panagin has also developed two major series of natural health products including the Basic Nutritional Support (Careseng® NutroPro) series and the Function Restoration Series (Careseng® series of herb-derived active ingredients) with over 10 products.
