The fifth Chinese Conference on Oncology took place in Shijiazhuang city, Hebei province, China from Sept. 19-22, 2008.  This conference was organized by the Chinese Anti-cancer Association, Oncology Division of the Chinese Medical Association, and co-hosted by International Union Against Cancer (UICC), Health Bureau of Hebei Province and Hebei Medical University, China.  Well attended with over 4000 participants including representatives from 31 provinces and autonomous regions across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, the fifth conference was the largest academic oncology conference of all the past conferences.  Participants include internationally renowned medical academicians, medical professionals, and senior officials from international oncology organizations, as well as Dr. David Hill, Chairman of International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and Dr. Xi-shan HAO, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, China and one of the Board of Directors of International Union Against Cancer.    

The conference consists of keynote academic presentations and 10 sessions of academic reports of topics including basic and comprehensive cancer treatment, rehabilitation therapy, cell and gene therapy and interventional cancer treatment.  Dr. Sherman Shumin Zhao and several scientists from Pegasus Pharmaceuticals Group Inc. attended this conference and had an in-depth academic discussion with scientists and medical professionals at this conference.  Dr. Sherman Shumin Zhao and Mr. James Jingtao Cao, General Manager presented on “The Preliminary Clinical Report of the Effect of Pandimex® on Neutropenia caused by Radio- and/or Chemotherapy”.  The abstract of this report will be included in the collection of research papers of this conference.
